Issuing Compliance Certificates Issue occupancy or final inspection certificates after confirming compliance. What is the building approval process in Queensland?Pre-Application Plan your project to align with local planning schemes and zoning laws, and optionally meet with the local council for advice. Development Approval (if required) Submit a development application to the council for significant developments; the council assesses and issues approval with conditions if compliant. Building Approval Hire a building certifier, provide detailed plans and documentation; the certifier reviews for compliance and issues building approval if compliant. Construction Phase Notify the certifier before starting work, have them conduct mandatory inspections during construction, and submit any changes to approved plans. Completion The certifier performs a final inspection upon completion, issues a final certificate if compliant, and lodges the certificate with the council. Post-Completion Maintain records of all approvals, certificates, inspections, and ensure ongoing compliance with any conditions set out in the approvals.
